What platforms will RDR2 be available on?

Red Dead Redemption 2 will release on the Playstation 4 and the Xbox One.

 

What is RDR2's release date?

The game will be available on both consoles on the 26th of October 2018, internationally.

 

Is there Red Dead Online? If so, what is that experience like?

 Yes, however it is only going to be made available a month after the initial release of the 26th of October 2018. 

Red Dead Online can function as an open world experience to play with friends or strangers, and be much like free roaming in single player but with real-life company. Alternatively, game modes similar to 'Team Deathmatch' and 'Free-for-All', as well as other new game modes. 

 

How does RDR2 connect to the rest of the franchise?

Red Dead Redemption 2 takes place in 1899, 12 years prior to the events of the first. Your character, Arthur Morgan, is one of the core members of the Van Der Linde Gang. This is the same gang John Marston, the protagonist from Red Dead Redemption, was in. He also features in this game as a central character, and you will get to see what he was like before he became the lone wolf bounty hunter from the first game. 

In regards to Red Dead Revolver, none of the "Redemption" games have any connections to it apart from a few easter eggs.

 

Do I need to play the first RDR to understand the plot?

As mentioned above, this is a prequel to the last installment so no. However there may be a couple of easter eggs or references to the RDR that you may not understand. If you enjoy RDR2 to the extent where you want to find out more about what happens after, you can play Red Dead Redemption to catch up on everything, including the nods you may have missed along the way.

      Hi, I have, maybe, a strange question, but I'm going to ask. Which basic files are created by RDR2 app on PS4 beyond autosaved and saved progress files? On my HD I found two files: "Player" and "Configuration".
