Americans at Rest is a Story Mission in Red Dead Redemption 2 (RDR2). This is one of the "Main Quests" of the game and players must complete it to advance the Story. Completing Story Missions opens up Stranger Missions as well as additional content throughout the game.

Bill starts a brawl in Smithfield's Saloon in Valentine as Javier, Charles and Arthur attempt to charm the locals.

That One Friend
Walk into the Valentine Saloon, and approach Javier Escuella and Charles Smith as they stand at the bar trying to pull two females. Arthur Morgan (you) walks over and charms the women into walking away, and at this point as the other guys ask about Bill Williamson's whereabouts, he stumbles into the bar drunkenly and picks a fight. You and your gang mates jump in to help him. There are no more than two people you need to get into a melee with.
After you defeat them, look over to Bill as he gets pinned against the wall by a few enemies. Help relieve the pressure on him, then look up the stairs as Tommy makes an entrance. This big brute goes straight for Javier, who cannot deal with him. Help Javier out, only to get thrown out the window and covered in mud. Here you'll square off against Tommy in front of everyone in a 1-on-1. Beat him until you have him in a downed position and continue beating on him until a civilian interferes and begs for mercy. You stand up and walk over to sit down on the side of a store.
That Other Friend
Dutch Van Der Linde shows up with Josiah Trelawny and the rest of your mates join in the conversation. They speak where Josiah's been, and he reveals that he knows about the Blackwater incident and that Sean Mcguire is being held captive by a rival gang, and is being leveraged as part of a deal with the government. Dutch proposes a plan to go save him, then tells you to get cleaned up -rightly so!
