Do Not Seek Absolution – I is a Story Mission in Red Dead Redemption 2 (RDR2). This is one of the "Main Quests" of the game and players must complete it to advance the Story. Completing Story Missions opens up Stranger Missions as well as additional content throughout the game.

Edith Downes tells Arthur that her son, Archie, is working at the Annesburg Mine. Arthur heads to the mine, to find Archie being goaded by the foreman, Mr. Dockery.

Do Not Seek Absolution – I Walkthrough
* This mission is time sensitive and can only be done throughout Chapter 6.
As Arthur Morgan (you), head to the east side of Annesberg and talk to Edith Downes to start the mission. You'll find her under one of the buildings trying to charm some men. In the middle of the cutscene, Arthur finds out that Mrs. Downes' son is working at the mines and decides to check on him - check your map and follow the yellow dot to Annesberg mines.
Once you've arrived, a cutscene will trigger where you find Archie is ganged up by a group of workers. It ends with Arthur threatening the group that he'll kill them and starts a fistfight with two men - fight your way the two and press the corresponding button to break free if you're caught in a chokehold.
After you've beaten the two, you'll get another cutscene where Arthur is able to rescue Archie - he hands the boy money and instructs him to go to his mother and escape.
This ends the mission, up next is Do Not Seek Absolution – II
