Please Sir

After you go to bed in 'Outlaws from the West', Arthur Morgan (you) wake up and leave your quarters to go to a room where a few of the gang members are resting. Abigail Marston approaches you with concerns about her husband's disappearance and begs you to go out to look for him. Reluctant at first, you are convinced by Hosea Mathews, and Javier Escuella who volunteers to go with you.

Saving Private Marston

The two of you set out on horseback into the calmer, but ever-present, snowstorm. Soon you arrive at a campsite where Javier tracks the footsteps in the snow that lead up and around a mountain. Following up up, you two eventually arrive at a dead horse, that Javier claims is the one John Marston was riding when they left the failed robbery. Here Javier shoots his weapon into the air, alerting him of the noises coming from the top of the mountain. You both follow that and the footsteps, higher up the mountain and the two of you continue on foot, as the horses eventually will not traverse higher up. Follow Javier higher up the mountain, as you learn how to crouch, climb and keep an eye on your stamina. You'll begin to hear moaning and cries for help and will eventually see John leaning on a rock, over a ledge, with a fresh scar on his face. You pick him up and carry him over the mountain.

Howling Snow

You continue walking until you see three wolves howl in the distance. You then give John to Javier and defend them from the wolves. After killing them (or scaring them off), get back on your horse and escape with Javier and John. Eventually as you ride down the snowy mountain, more wolves will engage you from all directions, and it's your job to protect Javier's horse from them. When you defeat them all, you will continue in the same direction, following Javier. He will suggest to traverse through the river to avoid leaving a scent for any more wolves to follow back to camp, and you'll do this and cross over.

Back at Camp

Shortly after you'll arrive back at the camp and John will be help by the other members. You then speak to Hosea about future plans to move East. From here, two missions become available:
