Farming, for Beginners is a Story Mission in Red Dead Redemption 2 (RDR2). This is one of the "Main Quests" of the game and players must complete it to advance the Story. Completing Story Missions opens up Stranger Missions as well as additional content throughout the game.

Fences
John Marston (you) approach Mr. *****ens who asks for help with building a fence. After being questioned about your inabilities as a rancher, you somehow manage to convince Mr. *****ens that you're of use and help him put up the fence. Follow the onscreen commands to help you build the fence. Continue until a cutscene plays showing you completing the rest of the work.
Bulls & Family Matters
Once you assume control once again, place the final piece of the fence on before hurrying over to Mr. *****ens, to see what the commotion is about. When you reach them, Abe, *****ens, and Angus Geddes, are trying to move a stirred up bull. After a spank from *****ens, the bull breaks free and runs amuck. Use your Lasso to subdue the bull.
The best time to lasso it is when it stands still, right before it tries to run you over; if you try and lasso it while it's running, it's only going to drag you along. Once you've managed to wrangle it while immobile, slowly approach it and calm it by following the instructions on screen. Once fully calm, a cutscene will show you bringing it over to the barn and putting it back in its stall.
They thank you for your help and you head back to your cabin. You wake up the next day and learn that Abigail is going to work in Strawberry and you ask Jack to clean the house, before heading out.
