Fatherhood and Other Dreams – II Walkthrough

Irony at its Finest

Arthur Morgan (you) goes to the spot Mary Linton asked him to meet her. When you arrive she'll call out to you from above, then come down to meet you. She tells you that the issue is with her father, which immediately angers you and as you almost walk away, you have a heart-to-heart, then are given the option to proceed with the mission or not. If you choose to help her father, read ahead.

Saving Daddy

She tells you he's been drinking and gambling, and is supposed to be at the stables in town so you head there on your horse, with Mary on the back. When you arrive, Mary volunteers to go in first, to check on his state. When she enters, the man cleaning the floors tells you to leave, and you get sarcastic with him. After he tries to get confrontational with you, in typical Arthur fashion, you flip the tables and scare him into leaving you alone.

Mary and her father come out of the stables arguing, and he walks away. You both tail him until he disappears into some crates, where Mary stops you from being seen. Continue to tail him until he comes to a stop. A cinematic will show him selling a brooch that belongs to Mary. After he makes the sale, the buyer leaves and Mary confronts her father.

Errand Boy

You let them deal with family business and go off to track down the man that bought the brooch. He gets on a wagon which you'll have to chase until you can jump onto it. Once you do, find a secluded place -will appear on the map as an area of interest- and pull him out of the stagecoach.

You can offer to by the brooch back and his initial offer is $100. You can beat him for a $50 discount, or just beat him until he gives it up. Alternatively, you can buy it from him at $100 dollars, then beat him and loot his body to reimburse yourself.

First Date

Either way, get back on the stagecoach and you'll be rode back into town to Mary via a cutscene. When you arrive, you'll talk for a bit then she'll ask you to go to the theater with her. If you accept, it continues the mission. You head to the theater and sit down to watch a show. Once you sit down, you can cheer and antagonize the acts, and make a move on Mary. When the show ends, or you choose to leave early, you talk for a bit before you collectively plan to run away together after you secure the financial safety of the group.
