Old Habits is a Story Mission in Red Dead Redemption 2 (RDR2). This is one of the "Main Quests" of the game and players must complete it to advance the Story. Completing Story Missions opens up Stranger Missions as well as additional content throughout the game.

Distress Call
Following the last mission Fatherhood, for Beginners, John Marston (you) will hear a disturbance some distance away. Investigate the disturbance highlighted on the map as a point of interest. You'll find a couple of Laramie Boys harassing Abe by a stable.
You interfere and try to defuse the situation but ends up in a fist fight with the Laramie with the biggest mouth. Beat him up until Abigail Marston walks in and stops you. Furious with you for being violent, she fights with you for a bit before the Laramie that you just pummeled gets up and starts to agitate the both of you.
Eventually they leave, threatening to be back. Abe thanks you for your help, while Abigail is still adamant there were better ways to go about that.
