Our Best Selves Walkthrough

To begin this mission, head back to camp in Beaver Hollow and talk to Dutch Van Der Linde. The conversation starts with Dutch saying he has a plan to rob a train that is loaded with Uncle Sam's money, Arthur Morgan (you)  agrees to help but insists to let the women, children, and John's family go - Dutch on the other hand, agree but looks to be furious with him. The cutscene ends where Dutch rounds up the gang and rides off to rob the train.

Continue along the path and listen in on the conversation - Dutch then instructs John to get the dynamite and to meet back outside Saint Denis, Arthur then decides to go with. Follow John to the wagon, unmount your horse, collect the item and rejoin the group.

Along the way, John mentions that Abigail found the money hidden near the caves in Beaver Hollow and Arthur suggests to just get the mission over with and once it's done, for John and his family to flee - continue following John and move through Saint Denis where you will stop by the train tracks.

One Last Ride

Once you get to the tracks, a cutscene will start where Dutch lays out the plan. With the train not stopping, Arthur and the rest mount their horses as they try to catch up. As you move closer to the rear end, you will be prompted to jump on -  once you're in the gunfight immediately starts, continue to push forward with John to the front of the train while killing the soldiers along the way.

When you are near the front, you will encounter a soldier wielding two handguns. After killing him, a short cutscene is triggered where the soldier accidentally shoots a lantern in the cart causing it to set on fire - Arthur will then be prompted to jump on Dutch's horse as they make their way to the front of the train, and once you're close enough, jump back on to trigger another cutscene.

During the cutscene, a soldier on land will alert reinforcements that the train is being robbed. Arthur sets up the Maxim gun and instructs John to uncouple the cart that is on fire. As John disconnects the cart, he gets shot and falls off the train - automatically, Arthur (you) will be in Dead-Eye to finish off the soldier that's on top of the train car. Dutch falls back to rescue John and tells Arthur to protect the money at all costs.

Now, you will need to fend off the pursuers using the Maxim gun, listen and watch as Sadie and Bill will tell you which direction the enemies will come from. Keep an eye on your mini-map to predict their movement, use Dead-Eye as well while shooting for better accuracy. Once you're told to, unequip the gun and climb up the train car - follow Sadie and plant the dynamite on the armored carriage.

Enter the carriage where Arthur (you) will find the money and he will start to hand the bags over to the gang - once he's done you will be prompted to jump off the train before it reaches the recently destroyed Bacchus Bridge.

As you regroup, Dutch, Micah and the rest bring Arthur some news saying that John didn't make it. Without any hesitation, Arthur packs up his horse and leaves the scene of the crime with the rest of the gang.

This ends the mission where the story picks up with Red Dead Redemption
