The Iniquities of History is a Stranger Mission in Red Dead Redemption 2 (RDR2). Stranger Missions are the equivalent of Side Quests, and they unlock as you progress the Story Missions.

Jeremiah Compson can be seen on a bench outside the Rhodes train station. Talk to him and you agreed to look for his valuables.
Part II
Make your way in the north from the train station to Jeremiah's house. Break in at the backdoor and search for the valuables. The watch rests on the chimney in the living room. When examining the picture on the other chimney, two men will attack you. After dealing with them, pick up the gun and examine the trap door. Head down to the basement to find his ledger on a crate.
Return back to Jeremiah and speak to him. By killing him, it will increase your honor.
