Trying Again is a Story Mission in Red Dead Redemption 2 (RDR2). This is one of the "Main Quests" of the game and players must complete it to advance the Story. Completing Story Missions opens up Stranger Missions as well as additional content throughout the game.

John take Jack on a fishing trip with their dog Rufus. They catch more than they expected.

Father-Son Bonding
John Marston (you) speaks to Jack Marston at their ranch in Beecher's Hope. You ask him to go fishing with you, and he reluctantly agrees. He also asks you to bring Rufus and this time it's you that reluctantly agree. As you walk over to the fishing spot, you speak on a number of topics in an awkward son-dad manner. When you arrive, fish with Jack.
He'll catch one and he'll be happy about it. He'll also recall his fishing trip with Arthur Morgan during the events of A Fisher of Men and tell you some of the details. He also worries of the whereabouts of Rufus and goes to look for him. Not 10 seconds later, you join him in finding him. Jack will ask you to search the other side of the track, so head to the area of interest. You'll find nothing so return to Jack.
Good news -You found Rufus! Bad news- he's been bit by a snake and you have to suck the venom out. Follow the instructions onscreen to extract the venom. Once you do, you tell Jack to grab the fishing gear while you bring Rufus back to the house. When you arrive at the house, Jack arrives moments later still concerned about the dog. You tell him it's going to be find and the mission ends.
