Uncle's Bad Day Walkthrough

What a Place!

John Marston (you) speaks to Uncle at the Ranch in Beecher's Hope. Since the barn was completely built by Uncle, Charles Smith and a crew of men they hired, you're really happy with it, and you all go to celebrate by drinking. A montage plays of the three of you drinking, dancing and singing all day.

The next morning you're awaken by an alarmed Charles, who thinks Uncle was abducted by the Skinner Brothers. So Charles leads the way and you look to find him. As you track him down, you hear a scream in the distance and decide to abandon your horses and proceed on foot. Leave your horse at the area of interest then follow Charles's lead once again -bring your Bow!

You'll shortly find two Skinners on lookout duty. Kill one with your bow and Charles will take care of the other. Continue to follow his lead and shortly you'll come across a patrolling group that will pass by the left side. They will mention that Uncle is still alive and you can choose to let them pass by or engage them -letting them pass is the way to go here.

Continue to follow Charles and a Skinner wagon will drive, dragging some poor soul along. When the man stops screaming, the wagon stops and the Skinner goes to pick up his corpse. Kill him with your bow once he's picked up the body. Continue to follow Charles's lead onto the small cliff, highlighted on the map as an area of interest. Once up here, use your Binoculars to get a better look at the camp ahead. You'll find Uncle tied to a wooden structure, being slow cooked.

Counter-Ambush

Once you turn around to talk to Charles, a Skinner jumps you and Charles uses a throwing knife to relieve the danger. However he is quickly grabbed from behind and after a Dead-Eye gunshot, from you, to kill his attacker, you alert the rest of the Skinners and it's game time! Kill the rest of the Skinners in the area.

Once you kill them all, release Uncle from his shackles and Charles will carry him. Provide cover fire for them as they make their way to the horses, as more Skinners appear. Once you get to your horses, continue to provide cover fire for them and escort them back to Beecher's Hope, once the coast is clear. Once you get back to your house, Charles will take him inside then come back out. You talk about the Skinners for a bit then it cuts to black and a cinematic shows you doing ranch work.

The Best of Women

As you continue with your daily work, you see two figures in the distance, and yes it's exactly who you think -it's Abigail Marston and Jack Marston. You run over and introduce them to their new home before the mission ends.

Notes & Tips

  • Don't waste too much time looting the Skinners' camp before helping Uncle or he'll die
  • When restarting from a checkpoint, your shoulder weapon will default to the bow so put your favorite one on your back.
